Have you Hugged your cat today?



Today is Hug your Cat Day! So it is fitting that my "ta-da" is my "Kitty in the Window" Wall hanging! Sunday afternoon, I took two of my King's Kids Girls out to lunch for filling our star chart up last year. One of the girls mentioned that she wanted to have kitty decorations in her room and the wheels in my head started turning... This fabric would be purrfect for a little girl!  So, after dropping the girls off at home, I started this little wall hanging on Sunday afternoon, and finished it up on Monday evening. I almost had the block finished before church Sunday night but it just needed *something.* I found the fat quarter of the orange polka dots while MySweetMommie and I were shopping on Monday- and I had the block in the car so I could match the colors.  I think it gave it just the right oomph! I added blue rick rack and some boring buttons. Miss Christa loved it.  I have plans to make a matching pillow for her as well.

My other "ta-da" is this set of baby blocks that I made on Saturday. I added plastic in between the layers of one of the blocks to make it crinkle and added a bell inside another. All of the fabrics have fun textures too. The parents liked the blocks- the baby is only a week old so we will have to wait to see how he likes them. :) Stanley liked them- he thought his job was the official cuddliness inspector .

This Teacup belonged to my dear Amyfriend's grandmother. It is one of my most treasured cups. It is so feminine and springy. It is  very pulchritudinous. I have another cup with a similar design that I received at our Ladies Spring Tea. It has the same border, just different flowers in the center. 

Speaking of flowers, my irises are full of buds and some of them look like they are kissing. I've never noticed this before but thought it looked neat.

Hop aboard the Christmas train

 I love sales and I especially love 75% off sales! I found the panels for these aprons after Christmas a few years ago.
and I put them away.
and I forgot I had them.

 

*then* I came across them the other day whilst "bolting" my fabric. I, of course, decided *not* to follow the directions - I don't like hemming raw edges, so I made it reversible. I put a bigger pocket on the plaid side and played around with the topstitching. I think it's much more fun to have two aprons in one! For the next one, I plan on using AbbyDoo's machine- she has all sorts of fancy schmancy stitches to use. :0) I *can't* teach her to use them if I don't play with them first, right?

Today I am celebrating my birthday (still) by taking mySweetMommie out for lunch! and of course stopping at all the quilt shops on the route. The route had a few detours to get to the quilt shoppes- i got a new pen to mark my quilt top and some fat quarters!

Christmas through the Year



my fabric choices-
I decided not to save this one for Christmas-
 its a little too springy!



Every year I say- "this year I will make an ornament or a gift every month so I will be ready at Christmas time"and of course it  never ever happens! I do enjoy the rush of trying to get things done but imagine how much more I could get done if I had some things already done! (that's a lot of "dones" for one sentence!) This year I have some bloggy land help! Cheryl and Darlene are hosting Christmas through the year with tutorials & motivations all year long! I found them through one of my dear friends from Christmas to the Max who happened to mention that her sister Barb was joining bloggyland and following these ladies thru the year. I tell ya I found all sorts of fun things to do! I found this tutorial from Thimbleanna whilst bouncing around these blogs on Thursday and printed it off to take home! I had some "me time" on Saturday so I actually did some of them! It only took me twice through Beauty and the Beast to make it! I had so much fun making it that I decided to teach my mom and sister how to make one and I am making a mini one as well. (I had to stop sewing the mini one last night because I was too busy watching Courageous to pay attention to the sewing. Didn't want to have to rip out seams or remove the needle from my fingers)

 My bag is a little taller than I wanted. Obviously I didn't measure twice and cut once!- it kinda looks like a Bible cover (for a short fat Bible)-I of course did NOT follow directions completely and I was too lazy to go get my rotary cutter, the next bags will be simpler to make if I use the proper tools!  I gotta tell you - I am in love with this bag and the mini one is turning out rather cute too!



Hey Bevy- Can you see Moe and Curley? I think Larry is hiding!



The zipper went in very easily and I didn't even use the zipper foot- mainly because my needle would have broken- the foot is not the right one for my machine (garage sale special.) Thank You Thimbleanna for a great tutorial!



I love the little tab on the end- I almost didn't add it but I am glad I did!

Lou's bag (which would have been finished had the needle not broken on her machine) is so sweet and feminine-  I haven't started Mom on her bag yet - hopefully next week?
