 Erlene over at My Pinterventures is hosting a fabulous Ornament Exchange.  I LOVE Christmas ornaments and just had to join. My Mom and I got together to make Ornaments the other day and I had way too many ideas flowing- I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted- my phone is out of order. (grrrrr)

Lots of Crafty goodness

We made Christmas Trees with fabric, dowel rods, and thread spools. I've been throwing all my empty spools into a basket and this was the perfect time to get them out!

These are super easy- just cut scraps into strips (we used 1.5 inch wide and pressed them in half)  Then we tied them around the dowel rod and trimmed them. the one side seems to stick up a bit so we just stuck a bit of hot glue in the "armpit" .

Then we wrapped the spools in a bit of fabric, glued and embellished for the tree stand. A wee bit of hot glue on the "tree trunk" and stuck it in the spool.  We also embellished just the spools.

Then as I was playing with scraps I made a paper airplane- It was super cute - so I found some quilted paper and made more- I think I am making lots more of these.

This week...

I got a sudden "Christmas in July " urge this week.  When I started rearranging my room for my "Studio" as I came across Christmas fabric, I just tossed it in a basket.  Because I knew I'd never ever get anything done if I started sorting and folding. Sooo, I have a basket here and a basket there  of fabric to be sorted and I'm slowly getting them done - as I find just the right place to put them.  The Lord provided an amazing dresser through my dear friend Pamela, who blogs over at Crochet with Passion. This dresser is very tall and only about 27 inches wide. Perfect for folded fabric!    I spent the afternoon folding and sorting my Christmas fabric and now I am almost ready to make something fun with it.  I LOVE sorting fabric!  There are so many possibilities in each piece!
As the week went on I didn't get any Christmas sewing done, however I did finish two Block #2s of the #cozyafternoonquilt! 
I also managed to sign up for a few more swaps!  I get to do a craft swap (whatever will fit in a c5 envelope) a secret pal swap, a vintage lovers swap, a placemat swap and we started a new Christmas swap page on Facebook!  I think I'm addicted! 
I received a swap package in the mail this week and it is sew great! 
This morning - in about half an hour - it's a RoadTrip!  Heading to Wisconsin for the day. Hope your Saturday is amazing!

Twas the week before....

The fantabulous "twas the night before..." blog hop started today and there are sew many great ideas to try!  I have been crafting like mad here trying to get ready for my bazaar which is NEXT WEEK!!!! AAAAAARGH!!!!! My office has been transformed into Santa's Workshop and me and my elves (oh wait I am the only elf in here) have been gluing and painting and spraying and tearing and printing and "oh Stink"ing when I realize that the paper I need for this project is at home. Of course, at home this elf has been cutting and stitching and gluing and "oh Stink"ing because the fabric for that project is at work. I am having a lot of fun and have actually got a lot finished for the little time I have spent crafting. Not having a vehicle is really stinky this time of year- I am so grateful for friends who do give me a ride even though it takes ForEVER to get me out of Hobby Lobby! One of my littles at church has learned (from her Dad) to say "Miss Bobbie likes Hobby Lobby." It is the cutest thing -with her little girl voice, she says W for her L and has a lisp too. I should record it!

I have been doing a lot of "From this to That"ing - people donate their gently used items and I make them purty again.

  I changed this poor angel in need of some love to

THAT beautiful sparkling angel.  The music is Hark the Herald Angels sing. It took 4 copies of the song to cover him, but now he's ready for the angel choir again!

With all the wedding planning going on around here, my house has been neglected. We have been shopping every Monday- I was hoping that we didn't have anywhere to go and wouldn't get tempted with another doing trip today. I need to do some house work. My Christmas tree is still up and I never even got out my Valentines day decor out. Did I mention that my tree is real? This tree hasn't lost a needle and it's been up for three months! Even whilst taking ornaments off it's not losing any! Amazing! So my day has consisted of dedecking the tree, spending time at the beach house (aka the laundry room)  and yup you guessed it-wedding stuff! I had planned to get the last of the invites in the mail today but! ... No mail for presidents day!  Today since it's snowing and blowing I am busy dreaming of a coral and silver spring wedding (we certainly got the white Christmas I was dreaming about) :-) 
Here is what I am working on.
I bought these roses (on clearance)for the centerpieces but once I got all of them in my cart, I didn't like them all together,

so I added a little bit of fabric and some hydrangeas and I like them alot better. I got the idea from Pinterest and they are coming together so quickly and best of all the bride loves them! "It's Beginning to look like *spring* unless you look outside......."

Paris wreath

One of My dearest friends loves all things Paris, so when I found Paris burlap, I knew I had to make her something. Of course since the burlap was on sale and I hada "25% off total purchase" coupon, it was a no brainer. I also found some gorgeous toile ribbon on clearance. And in less than half an hour (Christmas morning) I had Nelle's wreath finished! It was a fun easy project and well received! I did learn NOT to wear black while working with burlap! The picture is of my lap after making the wreath! There's a double blog hop going on over at Sewwequilt this week! Sewing room organizing and doorstops! Very cool projects sew far! Check it out!
I am planning to sew along to day with Sew much 2luv. Hopefully i willremember to upload my pictures thisweek!

Postcards

Wow! I am finished ahead of schedule! I just finished my first fabric postcard and its ready to mail! I think everything I signed up for this month is due on the 15th. So being ahead of schedule is good! Here's a sneak peek of my postcard and some wreaths for the bazaar.

"Presents" the puppy and other Ho Ho Holiday projects

I LOVE Christmas! Thank You to Carol and Madame Samm for giving me an extra incentive to get started ahead of time! I am a Last Minute Millie for sure!

I found this little puppy at our local grocery store just the other day and he was so cute with his little stocking in his mouth that I had to bring him home with me. (and he was only 99cents!) He became the inspiration for my mini quilt. He is a Jingle Beanie and his name is "Presents." I didn’t have any fuzzy fabric in the house and was unable to get to the store… then I remembered that I bought some stocking stuffers last year on clearance and they were fuzzy socks- but I wouldn’t have bought white ones. Thankfully the socks came in a two pair pack – one pack had a red pair and an off white pair! I just trimmed off the elastic at the top and Voila! had some very stretchy fuzzy fabric.

  After I found a similar puppy picture on Google, I cut him out and got to use my handy dandy new appliqué pressing mat- I LOVE THIS THING!  I used little squares from my stash for the background and did some fun FMQ in the checkerboard squares.  His stocking has a ball and a little present in it.

As I was auditioning squares for the puppy, I decided I really liked these squares together but not for the puppy. So I made these nine patch variation blocks-  I think they will be two table toppers some day. I used a tossed nine patch tutorial.

 

This table runner is made from Verna’s Cutting Garden Runner recipe from Moda's BakeShop) I used part of a charm pack of Fruitcake by Basic Grey. This was a fun recipe to make!

This stocking is made from a very, old very holey quilt. I have been talking about making something out of it forever. It was very hard to take the scissors to it. At least now it can be displayed and enjoyed. The lace came from a blouse that I always wanted to fit into and never could.

 I lined the stocking with some fabric from my stash and machine quilted around the hexagons to give it some stability. As I stitched, I thought about the quilter who took the time to hand stitch this quilt. The colored pieces were probably well loved scraps of clothing. What an honor to be a part of preserving it for some one else to love! This will be a Christmas gift for a dear friend.

 I just saw on Pinterest this morning some Flowers made from old quilt scraps. I will definitely be using more of this quilt!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

It's Beginning to look alot like Christmas here in blog land- take a look at these blogs today, then catch up from yesterday with paper pieced blocks and more. 

For some music to put you in a Christmas mood click here ( it will pop up up in another window) and then you can hop back over and listen whilst you gaze upon my Christmas blocks 

I was a bit frantic as today approached! It must be Christmas :)

I have had 2 of  my blocks done since before I knew about this hop and I put them in a safe place ( sounds like what I do with all my Christmas gifts too) and I forgot where I put them! Thankfully the LORD knew and He reminded me this morning- why is it we always wait to ask Him? I found the bag right where I put it after playing with my paper pieced block.

My first block is my candy block- after searching for just the right pattern- I made up my own. lotsa HST's in this one!

Next is my present block. If you are around me any length of time you know I love to wrap presents. Last Christmas, Sunshine Boy informed his mama that Aunt Bobbie says" its not wrapped without a bow"- he now has his own box of ribbons and is in charge of wrapping presents! Well, I found package blocks and I found bow blocks but I didn't find one I liked, so guess what? I made up my own pattern.

 I took two patterns and smooshed them together.

My last block is my first attempt at paper piecing.  I need to add borders around it. I used the tutorial for Candy Corn over at Madame Samm's and turned it into a tree. I need to practice more ALOT MORE. I am working on bowls for the next hop and not having the best luck with them. Regina was kind enough to make me a beginners pattern. I haven't tried it yet but we will see!

Wednesday Wanderings

It is Wednesday and my mind is wandering!

Since I only get to a real computer on W Th and F, I will have to share my weekend with you today!

MySweetMommie and I had our Friday Night Sew in and she completed her Mystery Project Flimsy- She figured out what it is- can you? I now have her working on four more spinning stars for another Mystery Project. ( Mommie doesn't know what this one is.)


 She just now sent me the pictures of the the new blocks and they look great! I am proud of her!



             Saturday, whilst working at the Dosido (aka grocery Store) I got an itch to go shopping. I found a garage sale and since it was only 10 or so minutes from MySweetMommie's house, and her house is 30 minutes closer to the mall, I had her meet me at Stitches in Time Quilt Shop. ( Of course I had to visit my favorite clearance corner.) Can't go wrong at 50% off!

 Then we headed up to Rockford to Sonic (hip hip hooray for Strawberry Vanilla Dr Pepper and Happy Hour)  and then to Quilter's General Store. I get their newsletters and haven't been able to get up there to visit. It was a busy place- there was a shop hop going on that I hadn't heard about. Which, in retrospect, was a good thing. Mom was supposed to keep me from spending too much moolah and extra shops would have pushed me over the edge!

We went to Joann's and I only spent $8 and didn't buy anything for me. Oh wait I did- I got me a pair of snippits (half price.) I  managed NOT to go into Hobby Lobby- an incredibly amazing feat, thank you very much! Then we ended up at the mall and had a blast just browsing. Until I found Charming Charlie's! WOW what a fun store! SENSORY OVerlOaD!!(we will save that for another post!) Chipotle for supper and then to Starbucks (  aahhh! Mocha Coconut Java Chip!) We even managed to get home before midnight so we didn't turn into pumpkins.  



The RED White and Blue Blog Hop is coming up very soon and one of my blocks is for a silent auction this Saturday, so I had to finish it. I FMQed the borders with stars! I am so excited- it worked!

 MY day for the hop is the 13th! That would be Friday the 13th! My lucky day! (although I don't believe in luck- God is in control no matter what the day!) 

I also joined the Think Christmas Blog Hop hosted by Leslie over at The Cuddle Quilter. I think I may already have a couple blocks done for it!
