Rush hour

Red, black and white fabric =bliss!  I was unable to get the Rush Hour  fabric but it is definitely on my wish list. I have been oohing and aahing over each and every post!
I surprised myself and actually had my project finished right after I signed up for the hop - it was my sorta sister in law's birthday and I found just the right gift.

I had the Mickey fabric on hand from our
Disneyland  tour at the nursing home -  I made this skirt
for the Minnie Mouse Mother's Day tea.
It only has a little yellow so it works for the hop right?)

My first project is (drum roll please)  a loyalty card holde I found the tutorial from a lemon squeezy home on Pinterest of course.  My wallet won't close because of all those loyalty cards and I can never find my Shopko card or Starbucks when I need it.

next time I will have to use a non directional print!
With this handy dandy pouch (and me remembering to place the cards where they go)  I can find them in a jiffy.  There are alphabetized tabs to sort the gazillion cards to make them so much easier to find.

Since I started using it there's no more searching for the card and holding up the line extending Rush Hour. And it worked up sew quick -I made two in  an hour and now that I know what I'm doing they will be even quicker. A great "twas the night before" project.

I added some quotes to the cards just
for fun. The next ones will be made
 from fun cardstock.

As  I was looking at Tuesdays participants, I decided I needed another project - I just finished Emma bean's owl quilt and was thinking of making her a bag to match but with the hop coming I decided to make one for me first. Emma's bag will be coming next week.  I saw a picture of an owl bag and decided to make my own.  The gingham wings are from some shoulder pads I removed from my dress the other day because one got twisted.

.
I have a Bazaar coming up in November and plan to make a few more owl bags- I will be adding a pocket and making it a bit larger and some card holders to sell.

The owl  loyalty card holder I made for me! I figured out
how to get the owls right side up- sorry Mickey!

Thanks to Madame Samm and Carol for putting all this fun together for us! Be sure to stop by and check out the other amazing Rush Hour projects!

Whoo needs a cup of coffee? Owl get it!

April and May, where did you go?

April and may seem to have disappeared without reporting in. after the wedding fun, I went straight into our Volunteer party-an evening in Paris. Then it was headlong into Disney nursing home week. Of course in between all that was the regular fun: spring, Easter, surgical removal of a tooth, nurses week, graduations, etc. My time sewing at Shermans side was minimal. I did make a very fun skirt for our Minnie mouse Mothers Day Tea, and a purse for a friend. I also altered Cinderellas ball gown. The rest of my craftiness was painting, arranging  and gluing.
I will post Paris party pictures at a later date since they are not on my phone.
National nursing home week celebrates both the residents and staff. This year our theme was "celebrating those who make Green Acres Healthcare the happiest place on this part of the earth"
We visited each land in Disneyland throughout the week. Each day the kitchen made a fabulous lunch inspired by the land we visited. Our dining room had a different name each day as well. Staff and residents were encouraged to dress up in the day's theme. We started our week on Friday with Toontown where we made Mickey ears for all the residents. Saturday,we had Minnies mothers day tea with minnie mouse cupcakes.
On Monday it was main street usa and we held a penny arcade with skee ball, plinko, a shooting  gallery etc. each game earned you Pennies which were spent at the candy store. Tuesday was New Orleans Square, pirates of the Caribbean day. We had a treasure chest pinata that the scally wags had to throw cannon balls at, then whack it with the sword to get the loot.
Since I am typing on my phone and can not put the pictures where I want them, I will post the rest of the Disney fun later.
My Mom and Fredly are taking me to a minorleague baseball game today-late birthday present. And it's a perfect day for  baseball! I plan to make myself a new purse and possibly a skirt before time to go.
