Whoop Whoop!

Today I am linking over to Confessions of a Fabric Addict -  Tuesdays  note: well  I *tried* to link over, but the linky  is closed,  I've been trying to get this post published since Friday but blogger app would not cooperate.
I have a fabulous Friday finish!
But this finish goes with a quilt I don't believe I have mentioned here!  Wow I am behind.
Oh I am not as behind as I thought - Emma's quilt was mentioned here
I finished Emma's quilt in September.  When I held the quilt show in February, Emma was asked if we could show her quilt. She refused stating that she was afraid it would be ripped. When assured by her mom that Aunt Bobbie wouldn't allow anything to happen to it, she said it could be shown , however she had to stay with it all day. We decided the show could do without an energetic 5 and a half year old and left her quilt at home. :)
Now for my fab Friday finish - Emma Bean just turned 6 and for her birthday we were supposed to go shopping with her cousin Abby (whose birthday is 4  days before Emma's) but Emma was unable to go. It wasn't till a couple days later (it's been a crazy month,  lots of confusion has reigned) that I realized that Aunt Bobbie didn't get Emma a gift because the plan was to buy it while we were shopping. Oops! So I wracked my brain and couldn't think of what to buy or make. Then as I was reorganizing some fabric I came across the fabric from Bean's quilt. Light bulb!  I'll make her a pillow with the leftover blocks.  Then I decided it should be a shaped pillow and made an owl.  I sorta used this tutorial from Ashley but tweaked it a bit. And made it very large (I didn't plan it that way but the quilt block was so big I had to make the owls belly bigger)
I used all the fabrics in the quilt and some fleece I bought for a fox scarf
(so glad I bought extra.) it was all ready to stuff and then I realized I only had a small handful of stuffing. Not quite.  I got stuffing yesterday and used almost the whole 32 ounce bag. It's so SQuiSHY!  I think I want to keep it.  I really like the strip of fabric in between the two pillow pieces. It gives it a boxier look.

Rush hour

Red, black and white fabric =bliss!  I was unable to get the Rush Hour  fabric but it is definitely on my wish list. I have been oohing and aahing over each and every post!
I surprised myself and actually had my project finished right after I signed up for the hop - it was my sorta sister in law's birthday and I found just the right gift.

I had the Mickey fabric on hand from our
Disneyland  tour at the nursing home -  I made this skirt
for the Minnie Mouse Mother's Day tea.
It only has a little yellow so it works for the hop right?)

My first project is (drum roll please)  a loyalty card holde I found the tutorial from a lemon squeezy home on Pinterest of course.  My wallet won't close because of all those loyalty cards and I can never find my Shopko card or Starbucks when I need it.

next time I will have to use a non directional print!
With this handy dandy pouch (and me remembering to place the cards where they go)  I can find them in a jiffy.  There are alphabetized tabs to sort the gazillion cards to make them so much easier to find.

Since I started using it there's no more searching for the card and holding up the line extending Rush Hour. And it worked up sew quick -I made two in  an hour and now that I know what I'm doing they will be even quicker. A great "twas the night before" project.

I added some quotes to the cards just
for fun. The next ones will be made
 from fun cardstock.

As  I was looking at Tuesdays participants, I decided I needed another project - I just finished Emma bean's owl quilt and was thinking of making her a bag to match but with the hop coming I decided to make one for me first. Emma's bag will be coming next week.  I saw a picture of an owl bag and decided to make my own.  The gingham wings are from some shoulder pads I removed from my dress the other day because one got twisted.

.
I have a Bazaar coming up in November and plan to make a few more owl bags- I will be adding a pocket and making it a bit larger and some card holders to sell.

The owl  loyalty card holder I made for me! I figured out
how to get the owls right side up- sorry Mickey!

Thanks to Madame Samm and Carol for putting all this fun together for us! Be sure to stop by and check out the other amazing Rush Hour projects!

Whoo needs a cup of coffee? Owl get it!

Back at it

I actually sat down at Sherman and was able to sew.  I hurt my back and then the flu knocked me for a loop and then had a big luau at work to host so Sherman has been feeling neglected. It's been like a month - I did get to work on Emma bean's quilt a bit last night - it's so  close to being finished two more areas to quilt on the main section and the border to quilt.
This week is a new hop over at sew we  quilt "Rush Hour"  the button on the side of my blog will take you to the schedule.  My day is Friday.   Have a great day ☺

I'm linking up to show off Saturday @sew can she

Rush Hour coming soon!

Wow! I've have been quite quiet on the bloggy front! I am sew glad Madame Samm has just the right hop to get me blogging again! This time its Rush Hour!
Sew we quilt
and the way life has been it's been a constant rush hour 'round here! Hopefully things will get back to a normal ish schedule now that I have an assistant again. I have been toying with  ideas for the hop and just today a perfect idea popped into my email! YAY - I have the fabric just didn't know what I wanted to make! Stay tuned- I will be showing it off soon!

I have been working on a quilt for EmmaBean (she is 5yo)- she was with me at the fabric store and I decided to make her a dress but couldn't decide which owl fabric I liked best so I asked her. She said- with that sweet sigh, "Aunt Bobbie, I'd rather have a blanket...." How can an Aunt Bobbie say no to that? Emma is the only one of my nieces and nephews that didn't get one when they were born. Emma picked out the rest of the fabric- with some veto power from Aunt Bobbie- and a few nudges the right direction.
I spent a couple hours playing with the ideas for the pattern, and I am pleased with it so far. I forgot to buy binding and found the rosebud fabric in my stash and ended up using it for the back and a border- and didn't have enough to use for binding- soI got some white with dots- not that I'm ready for the binding yet, but...
I am using Warm and Natural batting- which I've not used before and WOW what a difference! I LOVE this stuff! I almost feel like I should apologize to all my other projects for not using it!

Have a fab day!

OXOXOX

Happy Valentine’s Day! Once again Madam Samm and her cheerleading squad deserve lotsa Hugs and Kisses for putting together a fabulous hop for us! Jane has done a great job of keeping us organized!
Before I share my block, I have a short story. My Sunshine Boy, Nehemiah was about 6 years old and just learning to read. It was close to Valentine’s Day and we were all at Nana’s (Nana also loves Valentine’s Day and always has great decorations,) Miah looks up at me and says “Aunt Bobbie, why do all the Valentine’s decorations say Ox Ox on them?”   I had no idea what he was talking about “Ox, Ox?” Then he pointed at Nana’s tablecloth which had hearts and hugs and kisses (XOXO) on it. He was looking at it upside down and sure enough, XOXO upside down is OXOX.

As I was thinking on Hugs and Kisses for this hop, I knew I had to incorporate this story into my project. So here is my OXOX block- which I will turn into a pillow case for My Sunshine Boy.

I used the pattern from Debbie Mumm’s
Quick Country Quilting to make the Ox (ok ok he really is a cow)
and CaMom had sent me the longhorns fabric in
one of her moo-velous stash enhancing boxes.

I was going to make just one thing for this hop but- when we went shopping I asked EmmaBean to pick out some fabric for St Patty’s Day and she picked the ladybugs- I just had to make something for her and then Jayme over at finding sweetland reminded me of  Rachel's ( ps i quilt)  cute little friendship bag- I used some of my gazillion 2 inch squares and tweaked the pattern a bit – her strips were a different size and I wanted a two tone handle.  I made EmmaBean this cute little bag- it worked up in less than two hours (not counting the fabric choosing.)
I added a fussy cut laddy bug and some rickrack too

the back
inside
EmmaBean loves her new bag!

Then Amanda over at Jedi Craft Girl used her Jedi bloggy tricks and *forced* me to make this little guy- He took less than 10 minutes! I will be making more for sure!

I didn’t even have to add eyes-
my fabric just happened to have O’s in
just the right places!
Be sure to check out all the fun hugs and kisses over at

Wishing you a Valentine’s Day
                           with lots of OXOX!!

FRIDAY!!!

It's Friday! Hip Hip Hooray!

Today is also my last day working in Accounts Receivable! I start work as an Activity Director at the local Nursing Home next Wednesday! I will still work at the Dosido on Saturdays, (I really enjoy working there)   but the rest of the week I will be doing what I love! I am blessed to have two jobs that I love! AND I can walk to both of them!
I am not sure when I will have computer access for blogging so if I am missing that will be the reason. I have already been working on the July Activity Calendar and  there are so many fun things to celebrate in July! William Spooner's birthday, Wrong Way Corrigan, Ventriloquist's Week, Day of the Cowboy, Ice Cream day, Independence Day, Hot Dog Day, French Fry Day, and Doghouse Repair Month, just to name a few!  The ideas are swarming in my brain! I will be posting more about these in the days to come.

Since it is my last day, I made cupcakes for everyone here and I experimented with the frosting- one of the guys made my day, he said the frosting was so good he could just eat it without the cupcake. I made the frosting the regular way with cream cheese and real butter and added Blackberry Fusion Jell-o to it.

I am linking up with Confessions of a Fabric Addict, however, I can't show you the entire Finish because its for the Red White and Blue Blog hop (my day is the 13th.) I showed you part of it on Wednesday and here is another peek.

Tonight MySweetMommie and I are working on her new Mystery Project: she keeps guessing and I keep saying "Nope!" I told her that was the only answer she would get out of me! Check back tonight for the reveal of her first mystery project!

Earl Stanley Grey is studying the Bible through osmosis!

Have a great DAY!

Straw Beary Tea and Fabric

It is Teacup Thursday! I  brought a Strawberry Teacup and my Cherished Teddy too! I have another Cherished Teddy that sits with this one and all my Strawberry cups/ teapots but I don't have them out right now. I need to do that soon- before winter hits and my snowmen feel at home again. Maybe this Monday- I took two whole days off - in a row just so I can catch up on my poor neglected house.

While MySweetMommie and I were at the Quilter's General Store on Saturday, I found fabric perfect for Teacup Thursday! Not only was it teacups, it is 1940's ish and it was 50% off!  The lady that cut it for me asked what I was going to do with it. I said I don't know but for all those reasons previously stated, How could I NOT get it?
Hope you are having a Blessed Thursday! I sure am!

Be sure to visit these blogs for more tea cups:

Wednesday Wanderings

It is Wednesday and my mind is wandering!
Since I only get to a real computer on W Th and F, I will have to share my weekend with you today!
I love the way it looks like Stained Glass
with the light behind it

MySweetMommie and I had our Friday Night Sew in and she completed her Mystery Project Flimsy- She figured out what it is- can you? I now have her working on four more spinning stars for another Mystery Project. ( Mommie doesn't know what this one is.)

She just now sent me the pictures of the the new blocks and they look great! I am proud of her!

Saturday, whilst working at the Dosido (aka grocery Store) I got an itch to go shopping. I found a garage sale and since it was only 10 or so minutes from MySweetMommie's house, and her house is 30 minutes closer to the mall, I had her meet me at Stitches in Time Quilt Shop. ( Of course I had to visit my favorite clearance corner.) Can't go wrong at 50% off!
Some of this loot will be in the stash box

Then we headed up to Rockford to Sonic (hip hip hooray for Strawberry Vanilla Dr Pepper and Happy Hour)  and then to Quilter's General Store. I get their newsletters and haven't been able to get up there to visit. It was a busy place- there was a shop hop going on that I hadn't heard about. Which, in retrospect, was a good thing. Mom was supposed to keep me from spending too much moolah and extra shops would have pushed me over the edge!
Loot from Quilter's General Store!  The stripey stuff  goes well with
the Honk Honk fabric for the Car Carrier I am making.

We went to Joann's and I only spent $8 and didn't buy anything for me. Oh wait I did- I got me a pair of snippits (half price.) I  managed NOT to go into Hobby Lobby- an incredibly amazing feat, thank you very much! Then we ended up at the mall and had a blast just browsing. Until I found Charming Charlie's! WOW what a fun store! SENSORY OVerlOaD!!(we will save that for another post!) Chipotle for supper and then to Starbucks (  aahhh! Mocha Coconut Java Chip!) We even managed to get home before midnight so we didn't turn into pumpkins.

SCHEDULE FOUND HERE

The RED White and Blue Blog Hop is coming up very soon and one of my blocks is for a silent auction this Saturday, so I had to finish it. I FMQed the borders with stars! I am so excited- it worked!
MY day for the hop is the 13th! That would be Friday the 13th! My lucky day! (although I don't believe in luck- God is in control no matter what the day!)

I also joined the Think Christmas Blog Hop hosted by Leslie over at The Cuddle Quilter. I think I may already have a couple blocks done for it!
