Twas the Night before....

Twas the night before the blog hop and what do you know- Bobbie is here with something to show
Creatin' in the Sticks made me a gift - a little tea pot and a mug rug just gave me a lift!

Carla did a fabulous job and stalked my pinterest page to see just what I'd like and she hit the nail (or pin, as the case may be) right on the head!

Aren't they the sweetest things? - She even made me some sweet pins to go with the pincushion!

I had so much fun with this hop- its perfect for me - I am a last minute gifter- no matter how hard I try I am always making something on Christmas eve. I must like the adrenaline rush or something!
The other bloggers have shared so many great ideas that will make my gifting easier!

Right now I am in the middle of getting ready for our bazaar which is on Friday. I have been crafting like a mad woman. People donate items in need of TLC and I give it a fluff fluff  here and a spritz spritz there and a couple of la tee dahs - sometimes people even buy their own items back :)

Wreath before
And After

My wreaths make a quick and easy non sewing gift.

 I also made

kitchen fun on one side

 and Gingerbread on the other

Reversible aprons - my friend mentioned last year that she didn't have a Thanksgiving apron so she was just wearing her Christmas one.   I thought "since I line my aprons anyway, why not make them for Christmas AND Thanksgiving" or another holiday.

Peanuts Fall

Peanuts Christmas

I wore the Peanuts Apron to our Thanksgiving dinner and threw it in the washing machine- I am at work so it is difficult to get another picture of it. My Mom took pictures of it and sent them but the attachment didn't come through- oh fiddle! So I've added a picture of the fabric.

I had to put Trudy's name on her phone case because I wanted to keep it!
These are my "go to" gifts - glasses cases and cell phone cases. I hate losing my phone in the depths of my purse and my friends are always losing their glasses too, so I make these that hook on your purse with just a carbineer hook (sometimes you can get 2 for $1 at Wallyworld) I was going to put my phone in the case so you could see it in there- and then realized- I am taking pictures with my phone....Duh!:)

Thanks so much for stopping by! and our Super duper Santa's Helpers deserve a cuppa hot chocolate and a candy cane for putting this hop together! Thanks Madame Samm and Marlene! You are the best!

Be sure to stop by and see what everyone else is making!

It is snowing outside  and a whole 6 degrees tonight
Brrrrr

A Quilter's Dream come true!
'Twas the night before Christmas,
And the quilts were not made.
The threads were all tangled, the cookies delayed.
The stocking weren't hung, the pantry was bare.
The poor weary Quilter, was tearing her hair.
Stacks of fat quarters, tipped over in streams.
Visions of Log Cabins, had turned into dreams.

When what to her wondering eyes should appear,
But a bus full of quilters with all of their gear.
They went straight to work with just a few mutters,
Sorting and stitching and brandishing cutters.
The patterns emerged from all of the clutter,
Like magic the fabrics arranged in a flutter.
Log Cabins, Lone Stars, Flying Geese & Bear Tracks
Each quilt was a beauty-even the backs.

Her house how it twinkled, her quilts how they glowed.
The cookies were baking, the stockings were sewed.
Their work was all done, so they folded their frames,
And packed up their needles, without giving their names.
They boarded the bus, and checked the next address.
More quilts to be made, another quilter in distress.

She heard one voice echo, as they drove out of sight,
Happy quilting to all and to all a good night!

Wednesday Already!?

UPDATE: Due to Computer Issues Yesterday, Wednesday's Post did not get finished or Posted!! I apologize for the misssing pictures. Check back this afternoon for Thursday's Traveling Stash update and Teacup!

Wow! I have had a sedulous weekend! Friday night I left work a few minutes early so that I could stop at the LQS before it closed. I was still looking for fabric for "the pillow turned quilt" I had a great time chatting with the shop owner and found exactly what I needed. Then, I decided I should go to Wally's since I was half way there anyway and found some fabric (I can hear you fabric purists groaning out there, but it's not for my quilt) on clearance for $1.00 per yard and found more leafy camo fabric (that is for the quilt but in small doses) Our Wal-mart is one of the few that still carry fabric on bolts for which I am grateful- otherwise it's a 30-45 minute drive to the nearest fabric type store! Of course, I knew that once I got home I would have to restrain myself from using said fabric- I had culottes to finish! When I did arrive home I had two fun packages awaiting.

The top one  is the Traveling Stash that I won from Danny over at Mommy For Reals (more on that later!) and the other gimungous box is from CaMom. It was filled to the brim with stuff for SisterMine, stuff for My SweetMommie and the rest was all for me! Fabric, patterns, books, more fat quarters, a lovely battenburg lace tablecloth, all sorts of fun stuff! After getting to the bottom of the boxes, I started sewing culottes and I got all five pair stitched except for the hem and waist bands in no time at all. Sherman did great and just purred away.

On Saturday, after working at the store, I rushed home to make the house presentable. MySweetMommie and Fredly came over and Fredly cleaned out my flower weed bed and added flowers. I grilled chuck eye steaks on my handy dandy George Foreman's (I just got a *new* one for 2.99!) and MySweetMommie made Potato Salad. The steaks turned out great! I marinaded them in Raspberry vinegrette dressing and raspberry soda! We ate outside and enjoyed the summer weather. Fredly did  a great job on the flower bed. Some are already blooming! MySweetMommie also received packages from CaMom, so we got to share our goodies. I do believe CaMom is my fairy CaMother! Instead of saying Bippity Boppity Boo, she says "let's send this to Bobbalou!" *tee hee hee*
Just as Mom and Fred were leaving, the owls made a special appearance- they are so amazing to watch.

Sunday afternoon was spent sewing- I assembly lined the hemming and waistband casing process. Then I decided to see if there was an easier way to put the stinkin' elastic in- I fought with one pair of culottes for an hour before church- safety pin opened in mid-shove and got stuck, then it got caught in the pleats and then I repeated the process- I was a snarlin' n spittin' before it was through. I found this link  and wow! What a Difference! I put the elastic in 3 pair of culottes in less time than it took me to do the one last pair! (I had to do the last pair the old way because I already had sewn the casing- I should have just unstitched that casing!) I don't think I will EVER do elastic the old way again! Thank You Sherrie!!!!!  Anyway, the culottes were done on time  and the girls are at camp - hopefully my sewing is holding up! :)
Monday mornings I usually go to SisterMine's but they went to camp as well, so I had Monday morning all to myself. I worked on the grad "pillow turned quilt" and I am loving how it is coming together.

I also worked on the other grad pillow (that isn't turning into a quilt) and made 64 half square triangles using this speedy 8 at a time method!  After working at the store, I played around with the cute little HSTs and came up with a plan for them.

Then Tuesday morning, I changed it a bit and as of Tuesday evening, I have the flimsy almost finished!

CaMom asked if was an Aunt Sukey's Choice block- I said nope- it's an Aunt Bobbie's Choice! I believe I will add one more skinny yellow border and then a wide blue swirly dot and it will be ready for quilting. What are you working on?

Be sure to check back tomorrow TODAY!!- I will have a tea cup to share and a traveling stash giveaway!

Baby Birdies

I have been watching a robin's nest. The nest is in the cross bars of the awning over the front door of the office i work at. There are at least 4 babies in the nest and I was able to get pictures!

The last few nights I have had some kind of critters chattering outside my bedroom window. They usually start about the time I am comfy and don't want to get up to check. I just figured that it was a raccoon or squirrels or something. Last night they started before I became comfortable, so I got up to investigate. There was an owl on the ground outside my window! I grabbed my camera and quietly went outside (in my PJ's!) He looked at me for a few seconds and decided to fly up into the tree. I took one picture and then realized I was being watched- on another branch were two more! I think there were 5 all together but I only got pictures of two. I am assuming the larger one is the Mama or Daddy. I felt like I was looking up into the tree in the Legend of the Guardians; The Owls of Ga'Hoole.
I think this is the Mama or Daddy-
Unfortunately I chopped off the top of her/his head

I played with the pictures in PicMonkey

Hopefully I can get more pictures this weekend!

On the sewing front:
I did finally get Aunt Sukey's Choice done! I actually had it done Tuesday. I love this block! Aunt Sukey and Aunt Bobbie have the same taste! I think I am going to make a few more and do a topper or runner.
I have not worked on the culottes like I should have- tonight's "Friday Night Sew In" will definitely have to be culottes! Especially since Camp is Monday!

In the Mailbox: I did get a Squishie- but it was a Christmas to the Max Convention surprise- I love it! Hopefully I will get more quilty ones today!

Tomorrow- MySweetMommie and Fredly are coming over for a cookout and Fredly is gonta work on my poor neglected flower weed beds with me!

P.S. there is a giveaway over at Hopeful Threads! Check it out!! Izzy and Ivy patterns are sew adorable!! I hope I win and if I don't, I'm goin' shoppin'!
