It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

It's Beginning to look alot like Christmas here in blog land- take a look at these blogs today, then catch up from yesterday with paper pieced blocks and more.
For some music to put you in a Christmas mood click here ( it will pop up up in another window) and then you can hop back over and listen whilst you gaze upon my Christmas blocks
I was a bit frantic as today approached! It must be Christmas :)
I have had 2 of  my blocks done since before I knew about this hop and I put them in a safe place ( sounds like what I do with all my Christmas gifts too) and I forgot where I put them! Thankfully the LORD knew and He reminded me this morning- why is it we always wait to ask Him? I found the bag right where I put it after playing with my paper pieced block.
My first block is my candy block- after searching for just the right pattern- I made up my own. lotsa HST's in this one!

Next is my present block. If you are around me any length of time you know I love to wrap presents. Last Christmas, Sunshine Boy informed his mama that Aunt Bobbie says" its not wrapped without a bow"- he now has his own box of ribbons and is in charge of wrapping presents! Well, I found package blocks and I found bow blocks but I didn't find one I liked, so guess what? I made up my own pattern.

it's hard to tell from the picture
(and because i forgot to press the blocks before taking pictures)
but the bow is 3D
I took two patterns and smooshed them together.
My last block is my first attempt at paper piecing.  I need to add borders around it. I used the tutorial for Candy Corn over at Madame Samm's and turned it into a tree. I need to practice more ALOT MORE. I am working on bowls for the next hop and not having the best luck with them. Regina was kind enough to make me a beginners pattern. I haven't tried it yet but we will see!
Have a Merry Time Hopping thru the snow
Thanks for stopping By!
PS the Winner's of my Giveaways from the last hop are
Tricia who said I loved the blocks and they are quite inspiring. Love the last picture showing the fabrics for the Aunt Sukey's Choice. Thanks for the chance to win the yummy fabrics.
and

I will be sending you an email shortly!
and for those waiting for my last giveaways- I will hopefully be mailing them on friday- with a wee bit extra for waiting sew patiently! Thnaks for bearing with me!
PS#2 many of you asked about my blog's background last hop- it is a baby quilt I made for my "daughter's" baby (I am Cindy's Mommie #2) Blogger tiled it to make the back ground

Today is the day! Hurray!

Sunshine Boy made a flag and fireworks from blocks-
he said to imagine the yellow was white!
Welcome fellow blog hoppers! Thanks for hopping by! I am sew excited to be a part of this hop! I had hoped to have more blocks to show you but I got a new job and the all the summertime busyness happened at once! We just finished a Old Fashioned Tent Revival at my brother in law's church and then we started Olympic Bible School at ours! all during the last two weeks! Whew! I am tired!(pictures will be posted of both events in the following days) Thankfully things are settling down to a dull roar and maybe I can get some sewing done- poor Sherman thinks he has been abandoned! ( if you are new here: Sherman is my sewing machine.) Anyhoozers, I am off on rabbit trails when what you came for is Red White and Blues!
Here they are..... I started with a spinning star    starring Stars!

I couldn't leave it unfinished since I made it for a silent auction,so I turned it into a table topper.   I played around and FMQed some stars in red- those were sew much FUN!

I used PicMonkey to make the quilting stand out.
I LOVE that site!
I am teaching MySweetMommie to quilt and once I showed her my spinning star she had to make one and then two and three and she hasn't stopped yet!

I also made this little patriotic Heart - I was inspired by a table topper in the last hop that someone Mrs. Pickles had made for Valentines day. ( Thank YOU Mrs. Pickles!) I had a bunch of (and still have a bunch more) little patriotic squares so played until it worked! Can you see lady liberty in the red square? I love that fabric! My piecing needs work- I must have sewn and ripped the second to last row 12 times or more.... and it's still not right! I found the background at my LQS and just found triangles in their scrap basket! You can stuff a bag for $5! I got some red too! It is amazing how much fabric I can stuff in a baggie!

GiveAway!!! I have a charm pack and some Christmas 4 inch squares to giveaway! Sorry I don't have any pictures of them- (after 8:00AM I should have the pictures posted and possibly another block-I really wanna have it done! SEE Below) To enter just leave me a comment- Just a howdy or a hi will do! My followers will get a second entry- so if you follow me, let me know how!
I also have some 6inch ? and some 2.5 inch to go with these!

I don't know about you, but I have had a tremendous time hopping along with Red White and Blue! Thank you Madame Samm and Jane for throwing this PARTY! I am excited for the upcoming hops Think Christmas (my day is the 31st) and Bowls with Borders!

Have fun hopping at these other amazing places!

I got my other block done! I used this fabric to make a flag wall hanging in a class many moons ago and really wanted to use it for the hop!

and since this hop is for "unfinished" blocks I will show you
the Aunt Sukey's Choice. Or
what will be Aunt Sukey's Choice! I
have all the squares marked to be made into 8 HSTs but that is as far as I got. It is definitely a 12.5 inch unfinished block!

the third color is plain ol white

Straw Beary Tea and Fabric

It is Teacup Thursday! I  brought a Strawberry Teacup and my Cherished Teddy too! I have another Cherished Teddy that sits with this one and all my Strawberry cups/ teapots but I don't have them out right now. I need to do that soon- before winter hits and my snowmen feel at home again. Maybe this Monday- I took two whole days off - in a row just so I can catch up on my poor neglected house.

While MySweetMommie and I were at the Quilter's General Store on Saturday, I found fabric perfect for Teacup Thursday! Not only was it teacups, it is 1940's ish and it was 50% off!  The lady that cut it for me asked what I was going to do with it. I said I don't know but for all those reasons previously stated, How could I NOT get it?
Hope you are having a Blessed Thursday! I sure am!

Be sure to visit these blogs for more tea cups:

Wednesday Wanderings

It is Wednesday and my mind is wandering!
Since I only get to a real computer on W Th and F, I will have to share my weekend with you today!
I love the way it looks like Stained Glass
with the light behind it

MySweetMommie and I had our Friday Night Sew in and she completed her Mystery Project Flimsy- She figured out what it is- can you? I now have her working on four more spinning stars for another Mystery Project. ( Mommie doesn't know what this one is.)

She just now sent me the pictures of the the new blocks and they look great! I am proud of her!

Saturday, whilst working at the Dosido (aka grocery Store) I got an itch to go shopping. I found a garage sale and since it was only 10 or so minutes from MySweetMommie's house, and her house is 30 minutes closer to the mall, I had her meet me at Stitches in Time Quilt Shop. ( Of course I had to visit my favorite clearance corner.) Can't go wrong at 50% off!
Some of this loot will be in the stash box

Then we headed up to Rockford to Sonic (hip hip hooray for Strawberry Vanilla Dr Pepper and Happy Hour)  and then to Quilter's General Store. I get their newsletters and haven't been able to get up there to visit. It was a busy place- there was a shop hop going on that I hadn't heard about. Which, in retrospect, was a good thing. Mom was supposed to keep me from spending too much moolah and extra shops would have pushed me over the edge!
Loot from Quilter's General Store!  The stripey stuff  goes well with
the Honk Honk fabric for the Car Carrier I am making.

We went to Joann's and I only spent $8 and didn't buy anything for me. Oh wait I did- I got me a pair of snippits (half price.) I  managed NOT to go into Hobby Lobby- an incredibly amazing feat, thank you very much! Then we ended up at the mall and had a blast just browsing. Until I found Charming Charlie's! WOW what a fun store! SENSORY OVerlOaD!!(we will save that for another post!) Chipotle for supper and then to Starbucks (  aahhh! Mocha Coconut Java Chip!) We even managed to get home before midnight so we didn't turn into pumpkins.

SCHEDULE FOUND HERE

The RED White and Blue Blog Hop is coming up very soon and one of my blocks is for a silent auction this Saturday, so I had to finish it. I FMQed the borders with stars! I am so excited- it worked!
MY day for the hop is the 13th! That would be Friday the 13th! My lucky day! (although I don't believe in luck- God is in control no matter what the day!)

I also joined the Think Christmas Blog Hop hosted by Leslie over at The Cuddle Quilter. I think I may already have a couple blocks done for it!

Traveling Stash GiveAWAY

I love the definition and the synonyms for
Stash, (cache, treasure, wealth, supply, inventory, riches)
noun :a secret store of valuables

As I took treasures out of the box it seemed like Mary Poppins' carpet bag- Bottomless! I have it laying across the table and there is no way all that was in this box! But it somehow fit!

This is what I am keeping- I am so excited about a few of these pieces! I am still working on Granny's Domestic Bliss ( granny squares made with Liz Scott's "Domestic Bliss" line) and I haven't been able to find more- there were two pieces of "Domestic Bliss" in the Stash! I am also making a car keeper for a nephew and there was a piece of "Honk Honk" by Michael Miller that is perfect!

This is just some of what I am putting in- I also have a couple rulers, some more fat quarters, notions and some mini charms to put in.

Since the traveling stash giveaway is only for active bloggers, and since this is my very first giveaway,  I am also having a surprise second chance giveaway for EVERYBODY(even my international readers.) I don't know yet what it is, but I promise it will be good stuff!

(Don't worry! If you are not a quilter/sewista the prize will not be fabric/supplies-
it may be made *out *of fabric)

Rules for traveling stash: I copied these directly from Danny's Blog

- Be an active blogger. Post about receiving and the giveaway on your blog in a timely manner.
- There is a note in the box that logs where the box has been. Please add your info and place the note back in the box.
- There is a list of Rules and Guidelines in the box. Please read and follow these and return the list to the box.
- You may take anything you like from the box. Just replace every item with comparable quilt shop quality items equal to the amount taken.
- Ship the box to the next person in a reasonable amount of time.
- Due to the amount of postage shipping is only within the USA. Sorry guys. I'm a little broke right now!

Now for a little heart to heart: The Traveling Stash is not a dumping ground for your old, outdated, smelly fabric. It is an opportunity to share some of your lovelies with your bloggy friends. Should you take all the pretty stuff and replenish the box with really ugly fabric, I will scowl in your general direction
* note to Danny- please don't scowl at me! I put pretty stuff in!

Now the important part. How do you win this lovely box of SWAG? Just leave a comment,  any ol' comment will do. Be sure to include a email addy. Also tell me whether or not you are a blogger! (that way I can visit your blog- I always need more friends to visit and so I can put you in the correct drawing) Followers of my blog get an extra chance- let me know how you follow in a separate comment!   I shall enlist some helpers of the kidlet sort to draw a name out of a hat or bowl or whatever is handy and post the winners on Monday June 18th!Update: DUH I am an AIRHEAD, I will be drawing NEXT monday JUne 25th! Sorry for the confusion!

Okay, I think I covered everything- If I forgot something please let me know!
